10K Training: Week 4 Recap

watch and water (2)

On the schedule:

Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday
21-Jul Yoga 1.75 mile run 25 min CT 1.75 mile run 30 min CT Rest 2.25 mile run

What actually happened:

Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday
21-Jul 30ish min walk 1.75 mile run 30 min bike 1.75 mile run 1 hr volleyball Rest 2.25 mile run

For that walk I say 30ish because we stopped to talk to the woman walking her pug.  We’d like to get a pug in the near future, so anytime we see one, we ask the person where they got it.  Hopefully this will help us find a reputable breeder in the area.

I couldn’t remember how long my cross training was supposed to be so I went with 30 minutes on the stationary bike at the hotel.

My run on Saturday morning was the longest I’ve run in a while but it felt so great.  I’m not sure if it was the weather or if I just hit a point in the training where the running felt easier.  I’m certainly not complaining though!

10K Training: Week 3 Recap

On the schedule:

Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday
14-Jul Yoga 1.5 mile run 20 min CT 1.5 mile run 20 min CT Rest 2 mile run

What actually happened:

Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday
14-Jul Rest 1.5 mile run Rest 1.5 mile run 2 hrs volleyball Rest 1.8 mile run

Sunday we went to Dewey Beach for the day to visit with my parents.  We didn’t get home until after 10 so yoga was not in the cards.

This past week for work was crazy, I think I’m lucky I got these runs in.  At least things calmed down a bit at the end of the week.  Thursday’s cross training consisted of a double header for volleyball league.

Saturday I got my run in early before heading out to the winery for a friend’s birthday, but after some miscalculation on the route, it ended up being 1.8 miles instead of 2.  I suppose it was just as well, my legs felt pretty heavy.  I think the volleyball tired them out a bit.

Overall, I’m happy with the week and that even with things going on I was able to fit the runs in.  I was also able to do all the runs without any walk breaks.  Although I definitely wanted to take some on Saturday!

Wedding Photographer

At the end of June we selected our wedding photographer!

It takes quite a while to look through that many portfolios.  It is really fun though to look through photos and find a bunch that you really like.  It leads you to picture yourself in them!  Brian Ambrose Photography will be photographing our wedding.

The forecast on the day of our engagement shoot was isolated thunderstorms which made me a bit nervous.  I made an appointment for a blowout with my old hairdresser Kerrylynn at Tre Lynn salon.

Everything was great until the drive over.  As we left for the studio, it started to downpour.  We sat in the studio and went over details, suggestions and looked at some of the sample finished products.

The timing could not have been more perfect because then the rain started to let up.  We jumped in the car and headed for downtown Hartford, the sun and some nice puffy clouds were there to greet us!  We took some pictures in and around City Hall and also at Bushnell Park.

Here are a few of my favorites!

What I Ate Wednesday

This morning I woke up craving eggs.  I made 2 hard boiled eggs and served with a tomato and half an avocado.  Seems like a weird combination but it is actually really good.  You get the fat from avocado, protein from the eggs and something fresh from the tomato.

Breakfast 20130717

I made a big batch of pasta salad to have for lunches throughout the week.  Add ins include red, green and orange pepper, fresh mozzarella and pepperoni.

Lunch 20130717Dinner: chicken fajitas!

10K Training: Week 2 Recap

On the schedule:

It was so nice to go back to yoga, it really helped stretch out my legs.  I went to the 4:30 Flow I class at Mind the Mat.

It was really hot in Kansas last week, I made sure to bring water with me on the runs because it was in the upper 90s!  There was a pretty good breeze though so that helped.  My run on Saturday was much better than I expected.  It was not terribly hot yet and not humid out.  It was the first time so far in the training that I felt good on the run.

Didn’t do any of the cross training this week.  It was 100 degrees on Tuesday, so sitting in the AC at a movie sounded better than doing anything in that heat.  The temperature must have inspired me because I saw ‘The Heat’ with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy.  It was SO funny, I’d definitely recommend it.  Thursday I was just plain lazy when I got home.  Friday I did a little bit of walking around in Old Town before and after dinner, but probably not enough to count for cross training.

I got all my runs in this week though and didn’t walk at all during them so I will focus on that positive note.

What I Ate Wednesday

Eats for today from Topeka.  As far as I know, this is my second to last trip here for a while but we shall see.  Our travel could get extended to August and beyond.

Breakfast at the hotel: egg scramble and a banana

Breakfast 20130710Lunch: Turkey Tom from Jimmy John’s

Lunch 20130710Snack: plum

SnackDinner from Blue Moose: salad (not pictured) and crab cakes.  Apparently I am a creature of habit and like to go here on Wednesdays.  The last time I was in Kansas I also went here on Wednesday!  At least I ordered something different?

Dinner 20130710

Typically I like to eat in the bar, there is something a little less sad and lonely about eating in the bar by yourself rather than at a table.  I met a really nice lady tonight and we chatted for about 2 hours just about baseball, jobs, weddings, places we’d been, just anything.  I really enjoy meeting new people, I need to get better at this at home!
